NFL star in hot water after video catches him in bed with suspicious substances
After four years in the NFL, a pair of undeniable truths about New York Giants wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr. has emerged.
First, Beckham is outrageously talented. He’s one of the rare NFL talents who can turn an 8-yard slant route into an 80-yard touchdown. He already has an iconic catch on his résumé and has made the Pro Bowl every year he’s been healthy in the league.

The other truth is that Beckham is the living quintessential example of a diva wide receiver, whose antics can be as much a headache to his own team as his prodigious receiving skills are a headache to opposing defenses. It’s not just off-the-field antics like picking a fight with a kicking net, either. If Beckham’s not emulating a urinating dog, he’s picking fights with defenders.

While Beckham’s antics aren’t nearly as destructive to his team’s chemistry as those of, say, Terrell Owens, his behavior can certainly be a distraction and detrimental to his team’s productivity.
“(Beckham’s) got to be aware people are looking for him. He’s got to play smart,” Giants quarterback Eli Manning said about his star receiver in 2016. “He can’t afford to do anything (referees will) call. He’s kind of brought that upon himself, so he’s got to realize that.”
For the last four years, the Giants have been able to somewhat ignore Beckham’s issues because he’s been on a cost-controlled rookie contract. Now, however, he’s about to enter the final year of that rookie deal and the Giants are going to have some difficult decisions to make about Beckham. While the team could place the franchise tag on him, thus keeping him for less than market value for about another year, eventually they are going to have to decide if Beckham’s worth the headache, especially if he wants to become the highest paid receiver in the league.
That looming decision had to have been made all the more challenging after Beckham’s latest controversy, this time involving a bed, a pizza, an unknown female and potential drug use.

The man in the video, who appears to be Beckham, doesn’t seem aware that he’s being recorded. The 7-second video shows the man hanging out with a woman in bed. Beckham appears to be holding a brown cigarette. Next to the pizza on the bed, for the briefest of moments, the woman looks to be cutting a white, powdery substance with a credit card.
Toward the end of the clip, it sounds as if Beckham suggests the woman sleep with someone. The camera then cuts to the woman, who appears to have taken the video on Snapchat.
While there is no definitive proof that Beckham did anything illegal, it does bring into question whether or not the Giants star is aware of the situations he’s putting himself in. As Manning alluded to more than a year ago, Beckham will not get the benefit of the doubt in the court of public opinion.
The Giants have seen and are aware of the video, but will not comment on it further, per the New York Post.
Beckham, 25, has not commented on the video as of publication.
Beckham is recovering from a fractured ankle that limited him to just four games in 2017.
