Tim Tebow reveals his most important advice on being successful

Share

Regardless of how Tim Tebow’s professional sports career turns out, he has been an inarguable success in life by virtually any metric.

For the spiritual, Tebow’s strong Christian faith and the fact that he’s so unafraid to wear it on his sleeve is an unmitigated success.

For the materialistic, Tebow has plenty of money and successfully turned his earnings into even more resources.

For the generally decent people, Tebow has used his money and resources to do incredible good through his successful Tim Tebow Foundation.

And for the sports fans, Tebow was a successful quarterback at the University of Florida and in the NFL, where he toppled the Pittsburgh Steelers in a playoff game.

Success, success, success wherever Tebow goes.

And now, in an interview with MSNBC, Tebow has shared what he considers three key pieces of advice to help others achieve success.

His first piece of advice is to not let others define you.

Notably, many felt that Tebow could’ve prolonged his NFL career had he been open to changing from a quarterback to a fullback or tight end. But Tebow stuck to his guns, fully believing he was capable of being a quarterback, not a gadget or utility player. Some of his critics called him stubborn and unwilling to change, when in fact Tebow was refusing to let other teams redefine who he was on the football field.

Do you think Tim Tebow is a role model for success in life?

“It was always a dream of mine [to be an NFL quarterback]. And so it was more important for me to strive for my beliefs and my dreams than it was to settle for what other people thought I should do,” he said.

Tebow’s second piece of advice is to be unafraid of failing.

Unfortunately, to an unbiased eye, Tebow has been struggling mightily with his recent MLB endeavor. From all indications, it’s totally unclear if he will make it as a baseball player. But he’s not afraid of flaming out of MLB.

“If you have a dream, if you have a goal, if there’s something that’s been placed on your heart, then strive for it. What’s the worst thing that’s gonna happen? You don’t make it? Oh well. But at least you get to say, ‘I tried,'” Tebow said.

“Other people will see us trip and fall, other people will see us not make it, other people will see me in baseball, whether I make it to the [big leagues] or I don’t, and they’ll judge that,” he added. “But at least I got to live it out for a little while. At least I got to enjoy it every day.”

Tebow’s final piece of advice is readily evident in his relationship with God. Namely, Tebow says not to live life aimlessly.

At the end of the day, some will remember Tebow for his sports. Others will remember him for his celebrity. But Tebow will always remember the good that he’s done for people and children in need.

Truly, Tebow isn’t living life to be a rock star professional athlete. He’s living to do the most good that he can, so regardless of how his sports career pans out long after it is over, he can look back fondly.
