Tom Brady's bizarre wardrobe choice at 1st post-injury presser sparks avalanche of speculation

The mystery deepens.

Since Tom Brady injured his throwing hand at practice Wednesday, the story has dominated the sports media world. Each subsequent update has seemed to only add fuel to the fire.

On Thursday, Brady attended practice, but did not participate.

Unsurprisingly, Patriots coach Bill Belichick essentially refused to address Brady’s injury during his Friday morning press conference.

Later on Friday, Brady took to the podium himself for a media availability that had been pushed back from Thursday.

Of course, the injury was the hot topic, but Brady followed in the footsteps of his coach and was very guarded in his answers.

“I’m not talking about it,” Brady said when asked about whether he threw at Friday’s practice.

When asked several times about his status for Sunday, Brady’s answer was, “We’ll see.”

Do you think Tom Brady was wearing gloves to conceal the extent of his hand injury?

Perhaps the most notably thing about the entire press conference was not what Brady said, but what he was wearing. He showed up with gloves on both hands despite the press conference being held indoors.

Brady was asked by reporters twice about the gloves. The first time he claimed, “I’ve warn them before.” The second time he said, “I already answered that.”

The gloves immediately became the hot topic online, setting off a firestorm on social media.

It seems there are two possible explanations for the gloves:

1. Brady’s hand actually is injured and he’s trying to conceal the extent of the injury.

2. Brady’s injury isn’t nearly as serious as advertised and the Patriots are just trying to play mind games with the Jacksonville Jaguars, their opponent in Sunday’s AFC championship game.

Both possibilities seem equally likely at this point, but in a couple of days we’ll find out the truth one way or the other.
